Enigma - The child in us

It happened in the morning. I was out on a long early morning ride. When the orange of dawn was busy taking its creative liberties on the canvas all around me, I stopped over at a village roadside tea shop.

Along came a schoolboy of about 5 years. Built delicately, dressed well and carrying his schoolbag behind him. He stopped at the shop and pointed his finger at something he wanted. The shopkeeper asked him what was it that he wanted? His finger kept moving, undecided and delicate. It pointed to every jar full of candies and some cakes. He wanted everything. He thought his one rupee allowance could buy him the world. And I wish it could. He settled for two candies and skipped away towards school. I was speechless. At such innocence. I came back home and tried the track "The Child in Us" from an Album by Enigma called Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi. This amazing track has a great rhythm, some haunting notes and amazing sanskrit lyrics.

'When it is dark you are my light
But don't forget
Who's always our guide
It is the child in us'

Guide me o little one! I am in submission.

You might find this interesting, even if you chose not to put it up on your blog.

You're supposed to submit your will to the only ONE true God, dude. You see, its really easy (and surprisingly heart-warming) to say we submit ourselves unto any thing that comes our way and seems good enough, but then again, would that be of any use? Like for gold, there is also a 'touchstone' for theology; a seemingly nifty little trick that allows you to figure out (for sure, I'd say) if you have indeed found the right thing. Its called Surah Ikhlaas (roughly translated 'Sincerity'), Chapter Number 112 of the Holy Qur'an, and it goes a little something like this:-

1. Say: He is God, the One and Only;
2. God, the Eternal, Absolute;
3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
4. And there is none like unto Him.

ONLY if the One you think deserves your submission and worship can pass these 4 tests, does that entity qualify as the Supreme Being, deserving of all worship and gratitude. For example, some people claim that Bhagwan Rajnish (of the 'Osho' fame) is God Almighty; let's put him to the test and see if he is indeed The He.

1. Say: He is God, the One and Only; --> For the sake of argument, lets say, Rajnish WAS indeed one of a kind (although, we know that the world we live in abounds with dhongi saadhus and baabas and saints and what nots.
2. God, the Eternal, Absolute; Everyone knows that Rajnish, with all due respect, was born and he died as well. There is no question of him being an Eternal being at all. Yet, since his followers claim "Bhagwan Rajnish, never born, never died, he only visited the earth)", let us leave this one for now. (That's two tests failed BTW)
3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; To 'Beget' means to be born. In order to be the Eternal Being, God Almighty cannot have a birthdate NOR can he give birth to anyone. While the count of Bhagwan Rajnish's offspring remains unknown to me, I am pretty convinced he had a mother and a father. (Three tests failed)
4. And there is none like unto Him. This test my friend, is so stringent, that no one except God Almighty can pass it! This test says that if you can compare your 'contender for the post of being God Almighty' to anything in this universe, then your contender has failed. With all his shortcomings and doings that make him seem otherwise, Bhagwan Rajnish was one of the 'social animals', just like you and me. He was born and he died, he woke and he slept, he ate and he excreted, surely he cannot be God Almighty even in the wildest of a sane person's imaginations!

You see buddy, this 'touchstone' can easily help one verify if the entity claimed to be God is in fact God Almighty or not. You could take this test and compare it to whosoever you want, just to find out for sure if he/she can pass it and is deserving of your worship; Rama, Krishna, Ravana, Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Rajnish, Satan (yep, lots of people worship him too, without realising that he is infact just a creation of God, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaitan & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iblis) and anything else your mind can remind you of when you think of God. And yes, in order to see if your contender passes this test or not, you need to consider only those of his/her attributes which are described in authentic religious texts.

Hope this helps somehow InshaAllah.

P.S. I'm a biker, ride the P200. Liked your blog, good going, you should update more often.

As you said, 'Insha Allah'. Glad to hear that you are a rider.. About your comment, here it is. You see people are like bikers. We all ride different machines and roads but the goal inside our heads when we ride is the same.
Everyone is doing his/ her best at their own level of consciousness. You see, no living soul wants to get worse. So, give it time and space. Someday, everything is going to be alright.
Till then, keep riding and writing.
